Hey there! I’m Anna, but my friends and colleagues call me AH. In my day job, I’m an Emmy award-winning marketer and have been fully remote since 2018. Welcome to just bring yourself, my new (and arguably very long overdue) Substack series dedicated to sharing what I cook/bake/eat for myself on the daily. Expect some travel and non-culinary endeavors peppered in, but it’ll always be something I enjoy and hope you will, too.

For those who don’t know me personally, I was born and raised in South Florida. My mom is from Korea, and my dad is from Germany. I’m a proud third-culture kid. As you can probably imagine, this manifests itself in many ways but perhaps most obvious is in my kitchen.

When mid-autumn festival (Chuseok in Korea) arrived last September, I felt compelled to return to my cultural and culinary roots. And so, for the first-ever dinner party in my cute little house, I hosted a cozy party of twelve complete with black sesame Rice Krispie treats (thank you Eric Kim), songpyeon, homemade kimchi, and enough persimmons and Korean pears to satisfy my late grandmother and ancestors. In the months since, I’ve continued strong with one-ish gathering a month, using it as an opportunity to play with seasonal produce and try new recipes while introducing friends across social circles. It’s filled my cup in more ways than one, and, without fail, everyone always asks, “What can I bring?”

The answer, always: just bring yourself.

Thanks for being here. I’ll see you in the kitch.

Disclaimer: with Substack, you have the option to subscribe here for free, but there’s also a paid option for $5/month. I work full-time, my bills are covered elsewhere (at least for the foreseeable future), and I will make as much available for free as this platform will permit. That being said, becoming a paid subscriber gives me the ability and flexibility to create more content for you, plus some extra fun stuff thrown in the mix.
