snack from scratch: vol. 22
featuring pork and pizza, two ways each.
Happy Sunday! Welcome back to Snack from Scratch, my (usually) Sunday series where I recap what I’ve cooked using what’s already in the fridge and pantry.
This week centered on prep for my monthly dinner party, so spare imagination was somewhat limited. I opted for my two go-tos in that situation: pull out a cookbook and/or throw it on a pizza. Here’s how it went.
Ixta Belfrage’s grilled pork and pineapple (via her book Mezcla)
Pork steak from the freezer
Green pepper from the farmer’s market
Pineapple, limes, and red chili from the fridge
Scallions from my counter jar
Basil from the garden
Sauce ingredients from the pantry
Tacos al pastor, sort of
Tortillas and fresh onion from the fridge
Leftover pork and pineapple
Sausage and pepper pizza
Italian sausage link and pizza sauce from the freezer
Remaining green bell pepper, plus half a red
Fresh mozzarella purchased on BOGO the week prior
Basil from the garden
Farmer’s market potato and leek pizza with rosemary
Potatoes, onion, and leek from the farmer’s market
The last of the mozzarella
Olive oil from the pantry
Rosemary from the garden
See y’all next week!
